FIELDWORK / CANADA CAREER EXPLORER

Agronomy & agricultural entomology.

Canada-wide, non-student crop-science and IPM roles. Full LinkedIn descriptions and direct employer postings reviewed. Career relevance is separate from individual qualifications and Canadian work authorization.

DESCRIPTION REVIEW29 Oct 20265 relevant enquiry leads
0 sponsorship-confirmed
11 prior mismatches remain withdrawn
Relevant job descriptions found; sponsorship remains unconfirmed. Five non-student, non-sales crop/agronomy/IPM leads are shown by default, not five immigration-approved options. Use "Bayer-like field research only" for professional crop-trial/agronomy research. None explicitly confirms accepting applicants needing a permit or employer sponsorship. Select the employer-backed filter to require that evidence (currently zero). Two roles involve cannabis crops; the Toronto bioinsecticide lab role needs specialist yeast-production skills. These are labelled, not assumed to match your experience. Read the screening notes and Canadian permit rules.

Description screening - not title matching

Include only: non-student agronomy/crop advisory work without a sales-focused remit; agricultural insect-pest research; crop scouting and IPM; crop protection or biological control; crop-trial science with relevant professional duties. Agricultural crops must be the actual work context.

Check before listing: full employer title, duties, agricultural focus, student/enrolment restrictions, mandatory experience and credentials, Canadian location, open status, posted pay, and exact immigration wording. Missing pay is unknown, not invented. Missing sponsorship is unconfirmed, not inferred from international hiring.

Expanded to Canada on 29 October. Bayer's direct Field Agronomist posting (892565) was read in full and is now the primary link, with LinkedIn retained as a second source. It is the same vacancy, not an additional job or the withdrawn student program. BASF's full Seed Science Operations Agronomist description is LinkedIn-verified; a matching direct copy remains unverified. Rubicon's two descriptions are employer-ATS-verified. Molagri's separate Sr. Research Associate description is LinkedIn-verified: BSc/MS accepted, agricultural bioinsecticide production, specialist bench experience mandatory. No closing notice was seen at review; no application or recruiter confirmation has been made. LinkedIn dates can differ from metadata; schema validity dates are not employer deadlines.

Relevant titles screened out for mandatory qualifications or sales
  • Molagri - Scientist / Senior Scientist, Insect Biology and Bioassays, Toronto: genuine agricultural bioinsecticide work, CAD $130,000-$160,000 plus equity, but explicitly requires a PhD and direct bioinsecticide-development experience. Your reported master's does not meet the stated degree requirement. Not in the main shortlist.
  • Vylor - Field Testing Specialist, Carman, Manitoba: real crop trials and degree plus 0-4 years, but explicitly says no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance. Not an employer-supported option for your current circumstances.
  • MNP - Senior Agronomist, Saskatchewan: at least 4 years of agronomy field experience. Not presented as an early-career match.
  • Richardson Agronomic Solutions: full description ties advice to increased crop-input sales and profitability. Excluded for sales remit. Rubicon's separate Irrigation & Plant Nutrition Specialist requires at least 3 years of specific greenhouse nutrition experience; not substituted for the roles below.
  • Olds College - Production Techgronomist: permanent precision agronomy and IPM, but requires 5+ years in agronomy/ag-tech/farm operations and 5+ years in project management, plus substantial machinery and mixed-farm skills. Not an early-career recommendation.
  • University of Alberta - Research Associate, Molecular Plant Breeding and Genetics: PhD and 4-5 years of postdoctoral experience required. Excluded despite crop-research relevance.
  • Corteva - Horticulture Innovation Manager: technical crop-protection content but explicit demand generation, business development and market-share growth. Excluded from the non-sales research list.

Separate immigration background - not job recommendations

Work routes to investigate - not a finding that you qualify

No general Canadian open work permit has been established just from Brazilian citizenship, age 27, your degrees, or a US F-1. You can usually submit your own immigration application, but that does not remove a route's job-offer, employer, invitation, or eligibility requirements. No lawyer is automatically required.

1. IAESTE / IEC recognized organization - contact first

IRCC lists IAESTE for ages 18-35 and citizens of IEC or IAESTE member countries. Brazil is an IAESTE member. IAESTE lists Working Holiday (open), Young Professionals, and International Co-op permit categories; which one they can offer you, available places, student/recent-graduate conditions, and Ontario placements must be confirmed. This is not a direct Brazilian Working Holiday entitlement or an available job promise.

Next step: Ask IAESTE whether a 27-year-old Brazilian with your graduation date, current enrolment status, and US-based research can obtain an RO confirmation letter for an Ontario technical placement or open Working Holiday route. Follow their nomination process. IAESTE Canada's page quotes a standard service fee of $3,500; confirm currency, current total fees, availability, and refund terms before paying.

2. Short university research visit - up to 120 days without a work permit, if eligible

IRCC's Global Skills Strategy exemption covers research at a Canadian publicly funded degree-granting institution or its affiliated research institution for one period of up to 120 days once every 12 months. A qualifying research host and proof of eligibility are essential. This is not an open-ended job permit, does not automatically cover farm/private-company work, and does not establish that any current listing qualifies. Travel visa/eTA requirements still apply; the border officer assesses the exemption.

Next step: Contact university entomology, insect ecology, IPM, or crop-protection labs about a defined research appointment; ask the international office to assess the exemption, compensation, and documentation. No specific paid host offer is confirmed here.

3. Express Entry / Federal Skilled Worker - independent permanent-residence route, eligibility unknown

A job offer is not required in every case. You generally need at least one continuous year of eligible paid skilled work (1,560 hours; hours above 30/week do not shorten the required period), approved English/French test results, an educational credential assessment for foreign degrees, at least 67/100 FSW selection points, and other requirements including funds where applicable. Paid student research can count only if it meets all rules; an unpaid research activity or F-1 visa is not proof of qualifying employment. A profile is not a PR application approval or permission to work; selection requires an invitation.

Still needed: paid employment/research dates, duties, weekly hours, continuity, graduation date, language test scores, and credential assessment. No eligibility or selection score has been calculated.

IRCC Federal Skilled Worker requirements

4. Francophone Mobility - future option, not established with beginner French

Requires an eligible job offer outside Quebec and proof of at least NCLC 5 French speaking/listening. Employer action remains necessary: an offer submitted through the Employer Portal under C16, the employer compliance fee, and an offer number. Primary-agriculture TEER 4/5 jobs are excluded. Your reported beginner French does not establish eligibility, so this is not presented as an immediate solution.

IRCC requirements and employer steps

A study permit is not a general full-time work visa; a Canadian PGWP is not granted because you studied in Brazil or the US. A travel eTA/visitor visa does not authorize these jobs. Rules, program places, and individual admissibility must be checked before applying. No employer or IAESTE has been contacted on your behalf.

Where are the opportunities?

Drag to move, use + / - to zoom, or pinch on touchscreens. Select a numbered marker for the offers, posted salaries, and links. Red T = CN Tower. Offers in the same city share a marker.

Loading interactive street map...

Approximate city centres, not verified workplace addresses. Street map requires internet: Leaflet loads from unpkg.com and OpenStreetMap provides map tiles. These services receive normal network requests (including your IP and viewed map area), not your profile or shortlist. No location permission is requested.

Offline location diagram

Schematic latitude/longitude grid and city-centre positions; not a road map. Distortion increases at Canada-wide scale.

Employer-support matches

Application acceptance is not sponsorship. All figures in CAD. A job offer, LMIA, or employer support does not itself grant permission to work; IRCC must approve any required permit. Open each source to confirm the vacancy is still available.

Keep your search growing

Listings, filters, and the offline diagram work without internet. The interactive street map and source links need internet. Listings are a researched snapshot and do not refresh automatically. These searches open current websites, not a pre-filtered guarantee of visa eligibility.

How to read the ranking and salary
  • Career fit is an editorial estimate, not a hiring probability or a substitute for description screening. Student-only jobs are excluded outright. Any future admitted role must have professional crop/agricultural duties; experience gaps must be explicit. Salary, distance and immigration evidence cannot compensate for a scope mismatch.
  • Work categories are restricted to professional agronomy, agricultural entomology, crop IPM/biocontrol, and directly relevant crop laboratory/trial work. A generic biologist title, student crop trial, wine laboratory, agricultural employer, or immigration-supported farm job is not enough. Withdrawn records exist only in the rejection log; no filter, shortlist, map marker or CSV result can restore them as offers.
  • For future verified offers, hourly pay is converted using posted weekly hours multiplied by 52, with missing hours explicitly assumed at 40/week. Annualized pay is a comparison rate, not guaranteed annual or contract earnings. The hourly filter uses posted hourly rates directly; annual salaries are divided by 2,080 as an explicitly assumed equivalent. Filters and sorting use the lower pay bound. All pay is gross CAD before tax; no salary is claimed for a currently verified offer because none has passed screening.
  • All distances use the Haversine formula from CN Tower (43.6426, -79.3871) to approximate municipal centres. A Toronto listing can show roughly 1 km even if the actual workplace is elsewhere in the city. Routes open Google Maps for the named city; confirm the employer's actual address.
  • On 29 October the exact-title Ontario entomologist search returned no postings; the four agronomist results were excluded after their duties or student/sales conditions were read. This limited search is not an exhaustive market assessment.
  • Five relevant descriptions passed the non-student/non-sales agricultural crop scope. Qualification fit is not guaranteed: BASF requires small-plot trials/equipment experience, Bayer relevant research experience, Rubicon practical commercial irrigation/IPM skills, and Molagri hands-on yeast expression, fermentation and purification. Sponsorship and international application acceptance are unknown for all five. Equal-opportunity wording does not establish permit support. Employer-backed farm jobs remain withdrawn.
  • Description review on 29 October: original AgCareers descriptions for Bayer and McCain, and full Job Bank descriptions for Clark, Devolder and Cave Spring. Previously recorded environmental, structural-pest and farm-work leads are withdrawn as out of scope, not re-verified openings. All withdrawn links are screening evidence only. Immigration background was reviewed on 28 October and is separate from this job-description update.
  • Exact advertised deadlines are shown where available. Roles with no listed deadline remain visible but have unconfirmed closing status. Listings checked more than seven days ago are flagged. The file cannot detect early closure.
Application strategy for your background

Target non-student agronomist/crop advisor, agricultural entomologist, crop-protection research associate, crop IPM specialist, biological-control specialist, and professional crop-trial roles. Verify agricultural duties, mandatory experience, and whether the role is primarily sales before applying. Explain your Bayer internship and entomology research without overstating experience. No environmental biology, structural pest-control or general farm-labour substitutions.

For an otherwise suitable vacancy ask: "I am a Brazilian national and would require Canadian work authorization. Does this role accept applicants who need an employer-specific permit, and can you support the required LMIA or an applicable exemption?" Immigration support and career fit are separate requirements.

Using the code in Word / keeping it current

Word is for storing and sharing the source code, not executing it. Copy the full code from the accompanying Word document into Windows Notepad, then save as toronto-agriculture-dashboard.html with "Save as type: All files" and UTF-8 encoding. Open that HTML file in Edge, Chrome, or Firefox. Do not save it as .html.txt. To update the snapshot, edit the JOBS array, assign each job ID a category in WORK_TYPE_BY_ID, and update the CHECKED date only after checking the linked advertisements. The map uses each job's latitude/longitude coordinates and groups offers by city. Do not change the checked date without actually reviewing the data.
